STUDIO ACADEMY
Over seven weeks, Studio Academy offers Studio School graduates a structured and supportive way to continue developing and exercising their painting skill with a particular focus on the development of individual styles and making work that is both satisfying to produce and regard.
Places for each term are strictly limited to 6 participants who have completed the Foundation course.
The concept of the Studio Academy came from the idea of maintaining the momentum that began with the Foundation program:
You’ll be working on honing your personal painting style and expanding on skill through practice and guidance.
Having already explored the fundamentals, Studio Academy is your space to take what you’ve learnt about painting (as well as your painting personality and personal aesthetic) and follow your own path.
Across the seven weeks, you can choose to launch into your own project(s) or simply arrive each week and be inspired by new projects and exercises already set up for you.
Each session is structured to allow time for explanation, demonstration, and sustained studio work.
Classes typically include:
Refreshments: Tea, coffee, and still and sparkling water provided. BYO lunch and snacks, or The Store Room and The Bakers Duck are an easy walk.
Studio Academy is more like a regular exercise session for creative development than a series of classes.
It’s for those who wish to continue working in a supported studio environment on a regular basis, understanding that the single, most valuable teacher is practice, helped along a little with guidance and some inspiration.
Over the term, you will notice your ability to reliably create good paintings will increase, along with your confidence and intuitive decision-making around your art.
You may choose to keep Studio Academy a regular part of your week into the future or you may drop out and back in again if needed.
