A rare opportunity has come my way to open a gallery in a high-traffic, destination location
But I need some help to make it happen!
I’ve been searching for the right location and space to establish a dedicated gallery to showcase my paintings and textiles to a much wider audience for some time, and now, the perfect spot has become available (with the big bonus that it is relatively close to where I live).
This 55m2 space is located in the Nolans Block at Crows Nest (South East Queensland’s “High Country”), home to award-winning Chef Amanda Hinds’ latest restaurant Myrtille and My Little Blueberry patisserie, as well as a handful of boutique stores offering a delightful range of products for the home and garden as well as some of the local produce the area is famous for.
It ticks all the boxes:
- Regional location with plenty of traffic
- Destination for out-of-towners
- High-visibility store
- Suitable for a gallery
- Plenty of (free) parking
- A place where people take their time; and
- The right mix of stores
It’s the perfect setting to showcase my work—and the timing couldn’t be better because this area is busiest in the Autumn – Winter seasons.
Next Steps
It’s time to secure the store, sign leases, pay a bond, give it a coat of paint, add some gallery lighting, order signage, install fans, frame paintings, arrange a removalist, sort out some floorcoverings and generally set the place up to be a gallery.
I would also like to order some beautiful, high quality print ‘art cards’ for people to purchase as well as print samples of my textiles and upholster a special settee to showcase my textile ranges. All this adds up and so here I am, asking if you can help me make this happen!
What I’m Offering
To raise approximately $15,000 for all this, I’m inviting my collectors and supporters to be part of this moment by either commissioning a painting or purchasing credit for a future work.
This not only helps me launch the gallery but also gives you the opportunity to own a new work created especially for you.
How does it work?
You can choose between two options:
Option 1: Commission a Painting
- Choose a commission size that suits you (see options below).
- Your painting will be created specifically for you.
- I can only take on a limited number of commissions over the next 12 months, so this will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
- If you decide later that you’d rather put your commission credit toward an existing work, you can.
Option 2: Purchase a Credit for Future Work
- Purchase a credit to use on any future work, including available paintings or commissions.
- You can use your credit on multiple smaller pieces—perfect for gifts throughout the year.
- There’s no time limit—your credit will stand until you’re ready to use it.
- If you later decide you’d prefer a commission, you can convert your credit to one.
The Window of Opportunity
My goal is to open in time for a soft launch on Mother’s Day (May 11) and be up and running for the busy Autumn-Winter season, when the region sees even more visitors from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast seeking a slow-paced, wintery weekend away with award-winning dining and boutique shopping.
To achieve this goal, I’ll need to start ordering stock, framing and booking things in very soon. In fact, pretty much everything will need to be arranged by the 11th April.
Can you help?
Do you have significant gifts to think of over the coming year? Is a renovation or new build likely to call for new artwork in the near future? Do you want to treat yourself to something special for a major milestone? Would your workplace benefit from some new artwork? Are you looking for something large to raffle or auction to raise funds? Is there a special place you want to remember in a painting?
By securing a piece now, you’re playing a direct role in helping me embark on this new chapter while adding a meaningful artwork to your collection. I will be in touch throughout with updates on our progress and I look forward to finding special ways to say thank you on an on-going basis.
I truly appreciate your support and can’t wait to create something for you.
I understand if time isn’t right for you and I know we all have a lot of competing priorities right now. I thank you for taking an interest in this and also for your ongoing support of my practice.
With Gratitude,
Leisl
